Well Adjusted and Working Together
Chiropractic care is a powerful thing. I have seen people who come to my office and can barely move in tears because of the relief they have after treatment. I have patients tell me all the time that they are sleeping better than they have in years. I often hear the rhetorical question: Why didn't I try this before?
When I started at Logan College of Chiropractic, I had no idea what I was in for. I was given the opportunity to change lives. Sitting beside me through much of that process was my good friend Ben Myerowitz, DC. Though Ben and I take a slightly different approach to our profession, one thing that I am proud to say is that we have become extremely close through our years in the Chiropractic field, and we have learned a lot from each other.
After my first 6 months in practice, I asked Ben if he would Co-Sponsor a softball team with me. We dubbed it "Well Adjusted" and have become pretty well known in the Bangor recreational sports world as a perennial contender. I have to say that I have made some of my best memories on the field with the Well Adjusted teams, and I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Ben.
Many people ask us, "aren't you competitors as Chiropractors?" Well, the simple answer is no. Ben and I are in the same profession, but in our backwards society where cut first and ask questions later is often the healthcare mentality, there are plenty of people who benefit from our services. By working together, and showing our community that the message is the most important thing, we are able to help more people.
Ben and I have collaborated on patient care to better help with our different skill sets and often seek out each other's advice with difficult cases. I love those conversations, because it is so obvious that we both love what we do. Ultimately, by working together on and off the field, we make each other better.
This spring will mark our 4th softball season sponsoring together, and after way to many T-shirts with a spine image depicting the #1 on the back, I am thankful to have such a good friend and colleague in the area to help educate that public about Chiropractic in such a fun environment! And yes, we do adjust each other to make sure that we can still work after our softball games!
